On Saturday 14th January they performed at The Great British Rock and Blues Festival for the first time and came away as winners of the Introducing Stage, as voted for by the capacity crowd at the Skyline Pavilion in Skegness.

Adam Sweet’s transition from respected Devon based guitar-slinger to fully-fledged independent blues/rock artist has really gathered pace since the release of his second studio album in 2020, and the latest guise of his live band is clearly hitting the sweet spot. Featuring Garry Kroll on drums, Paddy Blight on bass and Thomas Hughes on Hammond organ they rattled through a 45 min set of original rollicking roots-rock and brooding blues, winning over many new fans in the process.

“My first time at the Great British Rock & Blues Festival did not disappoint! There was a wonderful atmosphere, the crowd were fabulous and we enjoyed every minute of our performance. We got to witness some terrific bands throughout the day on the Introducing Stage and made a lot of new friends…but to win the audience vote was the icing on the cake!

"It’s such a privilege for me to be able to perform with this band, and I’m really looking forward to recording some new music with them this year and seeing what the future has in store for us.”

- Adam Sweet

Their prize would ordinarily have been a return to a main-stage slot at the 2024 festival but sadly this was the last Great British Rock & Blues festival to be held at Skegness. However Adam and his band will be appearing at another festival hosted by concert promoters Solid Entertainments soon (venue/date TBC).

Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, this will be the only show they’ll be playing in the South West as part of their UK tour so it’s a real privilege to be a part of it.
A quick note to let you know my new single 'Dead Flowers' is out today!

I recorded this Rolling Stones cover earlier this year after so many of you were requesting the song during my Facebook livestream shows. It was recorded at home in my little studio from where I was broadcasting those livestreams and it proved to be a perfect project to get stuck into during lockdown.

The track features my band Ian Jennings on bass and Garry Kroll on drums, with harmony vocals by the lovely Alex Hart. It was produced and mixed by myself and mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering.

You can find the track in all the usual places including Spotify, Amazon and Apple Music via the following link distrokid.com/hyperfollow/adamsweet/dead-flowers

It's also available on Bandcamp at adamsweetmusic.bandcamp.com/track/dead-flowers

And of course you can get the track direct from my website as a choose-your-price download adamsweetmusic.com/music

I really hope you enjoy the new single. Thanks to all of you who have been streaming, downloading and sharing the track already today…your support is hugely appreciated!

Cheers!

Also playing in the Big Top on Sunday are our friends Pshcyadelephant, Ruby Cross and Jonah Hitchens. Day and weekend tickets are available – full details at yartyparty.co.uk

Thursday 29th July the Teign Jazz & Blues Club are once again hosting us for an evening show at the Old Commercial in Bishopsteignton. We had a great time here back in September, and this time we’ll be joined by our buddy Ian Briggs on harmonica. Tickets are available for £12 from the Old Commercial (01626 775285) and Regent Style, Teignmouth (01626 778858).

On Friday 6th August you can catch us at the Ocean City Blues n Jazz Festival in Plymouth. This is a free weekend-long festival taking place on the Barbican – we’ll be on stage at 5pm on the Friday evening.

In other news, I’m excited to say my new single ‘Dead Flowers’ is coming out on 30th July! After so many requests for this song during my livestream shows I decided to record a version at home – a little lockdown project that’s turned out rather nicely and is already starting to pick up some radio play. I’ll let you know more about it soon, but it’s available to pre-save for Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes and Amazon users now here

I must give a special mention to my friends at The Red Dress who I think you'll agree have done a wonderful job on the artwork.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing some of you out there at one of these real gigs!!

All the best,

Just wanted to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you for all the support this year.

It’s not been the year any of us had planned but I’m very grateful to have still been able to release a new album in 2020. Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen and especially to all of you who bought and streamed ‘Sink or Swim’. The response to the album has been wonderful and I hope one day soon we’ll be able to get back out there and perform it for you!

Talking of performances I also want to say a huge thanks to everyone who tuned into the live streams this year. Your generosity in supporting these has been incredible and it’s been a real lifeline in these tough times.

However you’re seeing in the new year I hope you have a good one…here’s to better times ahead and a more sociable 2021!

Hope you’re all doing ok out there. A couple of nuggets of news to share with you…

Next Gig

On Friday 13th November I’ll be playing with my band at Axminster Football Club, featuring Ian Jennings on bass and Garry Kroll on drums. This is the only gig in the diary for the foreseeable, so we’re really excited for this one! Tickets are already selling well and numbers are limited, so if you’d like to join us please book your tickets in advance via my website here

Masks must be worn when moving around the venue but not whilst seated for the show. This is one of the few venues around that can work with all the necessary restrictions in place so we’re really grateful to be able to play here – we hope you can join us!

New Video

Tonight we should have been playing at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis to celebrate the ‘Sink or Swim’ album release, so I figured this would be a good time to share with you another video from our recent live session at Momentum Studios instead. Here Ian, Garry and I are giving the track “Something From Nothing” a workout with Josiah J Manning back on Hammond organ and Kris Barras behind the camera. It’s just gone live on YouTube and you can watch it here

Thanks again to everyone who has been supporting the new album and spreading the word…the feedback has been wonderful and the reviews in the press have been a joy to read! If you’d like to order ‘Sink or Swim’ on CD, vinyl or as a digital download my shop is always open at adamsweetmusic.com/shop

Take care and I look forward to seeing some of you on the 13th November!

Adam
Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/64413862020-09-24T00:48:35+01:002020-09-24T00:48:35+01:00Some news about gigs...
Hi folks,

I hope you’re all keeping well. I’ve got a little bit of gig news for you, starting with the good news…

First up this Saturday 26th we’re really looking forward to a full band show at the Old Commercial Inn in Bishopsteignton. This has been organised by our friends at the Teignmouth Jazz & Blues Club and last I heard it’s pretty much sold out! But if you’d like to enquire about tickets please call the venue on 01626 775285. This will be a 7:30pm start in the Garden Bar (due to Covid safety measures the indoor bars wont be open)…so if you’re coming it might be an idea to wear something warm!

Then on Friday 2nd October we’ll be at the Chapel Arts Centre in Bath playing an unplugged band set with Ian on double bass and Garry on percussion. Due to Covid restrictions we cant play our usual full volume electric set here, but we’re very much looking forward to stripping the songs back to their acoustic roots and performing “unplugged” as a band for the first time. Please note the new earlier start time of 7:30pm following the latest government announcements. Tickets are £13 and available in advance only via https://chapelarts.org/events/adam-sweet-band-unplugged/

Sadly the rescheduled album launch show at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis on October 23rd is now officially cancelled. Hopefully this won’t come as too much of a surprise but I’m still very sorry it can’t go ahead. With all the restrictions and uncertainty at the moment it’s just not possible to stage the show we wanted to do for you. All ticket holders will be automatically refunded – you don’t need to do anything. We will be looking to reschedule once the theatre has fully re-opened…it’ll happen one day!

Finally, I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has bought the new album!! The feedback so far has been amazing and I’m so grateful for all your support. You can buy ‘Sink or Swim’ on CD, vinyl and as a digital download direct from my website at adamsweetmusic.com/shop.

I couldn't ask for a better or more thoughtful review!

Many of the songs and arrangements have all the usual and expected elements of familiar blues-rock, but Sweet always manages to add something surprising and different to the work, making this one of the most enjoyable recordings I've come across this year.

To mark the upcoming release of the 'Sink or Swim' album we recently went back to Momentum Studios and filmed some live versions of a couple of the album tracks.
It feels great to finally be putting out some new music for you. It’s been such a strange month and all the plans we had made have been turned upside down, including the album launch show on 12th June. This has now been postponed and we have tentatively pencilled in 23rd October as an alternative date for the show…I will of course keep you all updated on this. As for the actual album release, you wont have to wait till October for this but it’s looking likely to be pushed back a little in the current situation…again, more info on this soon.

Finally, a massive thanks to everyone who’s been tuning in to the Facebook Live streams so far! It’s the closest we can get to a gig for the foreseeable and it’s been so lovely to still be able to connect with so many of you. I won’t be doing one this Tuesday but will instead be going live on Facebook on Friday at 8pm to celebrate the single release that day…hope you can tune in for that one!

Thanks for all the support and I hope you enjoy the new single when it arrives.

Look after yourselves. Stay happy and healthy!

Adam
Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/62811432020-04-13T19:36:00+01:002020-04-13T19:41:28+01:00Live Streams This Week
Hi folks,

I hope you’re all keeping well. I just wanted to let you know about a couple of shows I’ll be streaming live this week from the comfort of my little home studio.

Firstly, thanks to everyone who tuned in to my first attempt at one of these last Tuesday. I must admit it felt pretty strange at first, but it was a lot of fun once I settled into it and I was really blown away by the response and the incredible generosity in the virtual tip jar! It was great to be able to connect with so many of you. There were a lot of requests coming in too, so the plan is to do it once a week with the next one being this Tuesday 14th at 8pm. This also happens to be the second Tuesday of the month when I would usually be playing my monthly residency at Ebdons in Exeter, so hopefully some of the regular Ebdons crowd can join me too! If you’d like to tune in just go to https://www.facebook.com/adamsweetmusic/live at 8pm (UK time) on Tuesday.

Also on Friday 17th April at 8pm I will be playing a “gig” at the Virtual Brook Inn! I have been playing regularly at the real Brook Inn in Plympton ever since it opened in 2014, where the landlord John Govier has always been a huge supporter of live music as well as working tirelessly to create a hub for the local community. So it’s no surprise that in these difficult times John has come up with the genius idea of creating ‘The Virtual Brook Inn’, which has already played host to a bunch of gigs in the last couple of weeks. I’m really pleased to have been asked to play and you can catch this one on The Virtual Brook Inn Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/virtualbrookinn/

So two gigs this week…that’s almost a tour!

Also I hope to be able to update you on news of the album launch soon…obviously there’s a lot of uncertainty hanging over all the plans we had for the release. As soon as I know what’s happening I’ll let you know, but the first single will be coming out on 1st May…more info on that soon!

Thanks again for all the support. Keep in touch and stay happy and healthy.

Adam x
Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/62559592020-03-20T13:59:30+00:002020-03-20T13:59:30+00:00Update - March 2020

Hi folks,

It’ll come as no surprise that all upcoming gigs are off until the current advice changes. This includes the full-band show at the Bronx in Teignmouth on 29th April, which we will be rescheduling for later in the year.

As for May and June we will just have to wait and see. Obviously there is a big question mark over the album launch show on 12th June too…we may have to push it back but I’ll keep you all updated.

Whatever happens I’ll still be bringing you some new music soon…keep an eye out for news on the first single coming next month. In the meantime take care of yourselves and do what you can to support each other.

Keep in touch.

Hi folks,

Hope you’re all well. Apologies for being a bit quiet recently, but as many of you know I finished recording my new album last year and since then I’ve been busy behind the scenes getting everything in place for the album release…

So I’m delighted to be able to announce that the release date for my new album will be Friday 12th June and we’ll be marking the occasion with a launch show at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis that night!

The Marine Theatre is a beautiful venue where I’ve had the pleasure of performing many times over the years, and as my hometown theatre where I witnessed my first proper gig almost 20 years ago (remember The Hamsters anyone?) it feels fitting to be returning here to launch my new album.

The launch show will see the new album ‘Sink or Swim’ performed in its entirety with my full band featuring some special guests, and we’ll be playing plenty of old favourites for you too.

For more info on the album launch show check out the Marine Theatre website here

I really hope you’ll be able to join us for what should be a very special night. Put the date in your diary and I’ll be in touch with more details about the album and the launch show very soon…

Best wishes,

Adam
Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/59073122019-09-27T12:17:02+01:002019-09-27T12:17:02+01:00Netherlands Tour this October
Hi folks,

Hope you’re well. Just a quick note for all my Dutch friends out there to let you know about my upcoming trip to the Netherlands next month.

I’ll be doing a 5 date tour around the North of the country, starting with a return visit to Peter en Leni’s in Steendam on Friday 11thOctober for a solo acoustic show at this lovely venue.
Following on from my last mail-out I’m sorry to say that the organisers of the Ocean City Blues N Jazz Festival in Plymouth have had to cancel the first day of the festival due to the severe weather forecast.
Hi folks,

Hope you are all well. It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with you, so time for a quick news update…

In just under two weeks it’s the annual festival of Jazz & Blues in Lyme Regis – ‘Jazz Jurassica’. I’m delighted to be back at the festival this year and this time I’ll be bringing my band to the Marine Theatre on Saturday 25th May to open the show for blues headliner Laurence Jones. There are still a few tickets left for this one (standing room only I believe) – you’ll find full details and tickets at https://www.jazzjurassica.co.uk/performer/laurence-jones-band/

On the final day of the festival (Monday 27th) I also have the honour of hosting an afternoon of blues at the Marine Shelters on Lyme’s stunning seafront. For my ‘Monday Blues’ session I’ve gathered together a roster of some of the finest blues players in the South West, who happen to be some very good friends of mine too! I’ll be kicking off proceedings at midday with my band (Ian Jennings on bass and Garry Kroll on drums), then with the help of my buddies Paddy Blight (bass) and Sebastian Boleslawski (drums) the rolling house band will be backing our special guests throughout the afternoon…Vince Lee, Joanna Cooke, Ian Briggs and Grace Gillan & Jake Miller. It’s gonna be a lot of fun! Full details at https://www.jazzjurassica.co.uk/event/adam-sweets-monday-blues/

The Bank Holiday weekend also sees me bringing the band to the Exmouth Festival on Sunday 26th. We’ll be on stage at 3:15pm…if you’re in Exmouth that weekend we’d love to see you there!

There are plenty more gigs coming up, both solo and with the band…check the website for the full list. The residencies are still going strong too – every other Wednesday solo in Lyme Regis; 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month with Alan West & Steve Black in Colyford; and my new slot on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at Ebdons in Exeter.

Finally, I’m very excited to report that I’ll be heading into the studio with the band next month to start recording my new album! More news on that soon!!

Till next time…

I’m pleased to say the third and final video from our live session in the Round Room is now available! This time it’s ‘You or Me’, another song from the new batch, being given the full-band treatment…

Hope you enjoy and hopefully see you at a gig near you soon!

All the best,

Adam x
Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/55823232019-01-05T19:03:20+00:002022-03-24T09:11:41+00:00Happy New Year and another new video!
Happy New Year folks! I hope you all had a good break over the festive period. I certainly enjoyed a bit of downtime after a great run of gigs in the lead up to Christmas, but I’m gradually getting back into the swing of things now…

So it’s about time I shared another new video with you from the recent live session with the band. In this installment we’re having a bash at another new track ‘Trouble’. Recorded completely live, no overdubs, warts ‘n’ all…great fun! Hope you enjoy it!

January is traditionally a fairly quiet month on the gig front, but a January tradition that is still going strong is the annual Midwinterfest in Torquay. We’ll be down there next weekend (11th– 13th Jan) for the 5th year running, where as usual I’ll be resident for the weekend playing alongside hosts Alan West & Steve Black, but this year I’ll also be bringing my band for a full set on the Friday night too! The festival is always a great way to kick off the New Year, and there are still a couple of spaces left I believe, so if you fancy joining us for the weekend email info@neo-music.net for more info…

That’s all for now but there’ll be another new video along soon…you can also subscribe to my YouTube channel here if you don’t want to miss it. If I don’t see you in Torquay next weekend I’ll see you somewhere else soon!

Cheers,

Adam x
Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/55336722018-11-30T17:16:34+00:002018-11-30T17:17:58+00:00New videos and other news…
Hi folks,

Hope you’re all well, and welcome along to all the new subscribers who’ve signed up to the mailing list over the last 4 or 5 months. It’s been a while since my last one I know…but after what was my busiest summer yet of gigging and touring the time seems to have flown by…and in these days of spam overload I don’t like to bother you unless I’ve got something pretty interesting to share with you…

Which leads me on to some new videos I have to share with you! Some of you have caught the full-band shows I’ve played this year with my buddies Ian Jennings and Garry Kroll. Last month the three of us got together for a day to play around with some of my newest songs, so we thought we’d set up the mics and the cameras and see what we could capture from the session. We had a lot of fun and I’m pleased to say the first video from the session, ‘Working On It’, is live now!

It was recorded completely live with special thanks to Elliot Millson for taking care of the filming. We hope you enjoy it! Look out for some more videos from the session soon…

In other news…next Friday 7thDecember I’m delighted to be returning to Chettle Hall where I’ll be playing a special duo-show with Steve Black – expect anything from Steve’s vast back catalogue of songs and our ever growing list of co-writes, and more besides! Then the following week I’m heading for the Midlands, where as well as making debut appearances in Whatcote (Warwickshire) and Seagrave (Leicestershire) I also have the great pleasure of opening for British R&B legends Dr Feelgood at The Flowerpot in Derby on the 15th! The local gigs around Devon and Dorset keep rollin’ on too…as always check the website for all the details.

I’m also busy working on the diary for 2019, so if there’s anywhere you’d like to see me next year in either acoustic or band formats then let me know and we’ll see what we can do!

Take care and see you soon,

Adam x
Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/53178982018-06-26T13:29:32+01:002018-06-26T13:29:32+01:00Netherlands tour starts tomorrow!
Hi folks,

The band have invited me and my Les Paul guitar to join them on some Peter Green numbers to help mark 10 years since Barrelhouse Blues Orchestra founder-member (and Greeny fan!) Paul Hart passed away. Tickets for this show can be found at https://stur-exchange.co.uk/programme/the-barrelhouse-blues-band/ Take care and I’ll see you out there somewhere…

After a superb time at Tenby Blues Festival last weekend (thanks to all of you came to one, or both of the shows!!), I’m sorry to have to bring you news of some cancellations…

First up this Sunday I was due to be bringing the full band to the Cellars Bar in Teignmouth as part of the Jazz & Blues Fringe Festival. Sadly the venue has recently closed and despite our best efforts we have been unable to find another venue to stage the gig, so it’s not to be. Hopefully we’ll be seeing you at the 2018 festival instead!

Secondly, it seems the twice-monthly residency at The Wheelwright in Colyford alongside Alan West & Steve Black has come to an end. There may be more gigs happening here in future, but for now the new management are unable to host these regular music nights. Thanks to all of you who have supported this gig so loyally over the last couple of years…we’ve had some really great nights. My next gig with these guys will be at Chettle Hall near Blandford on Friday 1st December - contact Jan on 07776 323198 for tickets www.chettlemusic.co.uk

In the meantime you can still catch me playing in Devon this weekend – I’ll be out with The Perfect Strangers doing the classic-rock thing at The Sorry Head in Exeter tonight (Friday) and at the Axminster Inn (in Axminster!) on Saturday, both from 9:30pm. And on Monday 20th I’ll be playing solo at Kingskerswell Church nr Newton Abbot supporting Winter Mountain – doors 7pm, tickets at http://www.wegottickets.com/event/415628

Hope to see you out there somewhere soon.

Thanks,

Adam

P.S. thanks for all the kind words about the new live video - the next one will be on the way soon!
Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/49256352017-11-09T12:52:47+00:002022-03-24T09:03:08+00:00New Video - Live at Momentum Studios – ‘New Friend’
Hi folks,

On Monday of this week I had the pleasure of spending the day in the company of Josiah Manning at his awesome studio in Plymouth. The aim of the day was to capture some live acoustic performances on film, and I’m pleased to report it was a successful session…and a lot of fun too!

So what I’ve got for you is a series of live studio videos recorded, filmed and produced by Josiah at Momentum Studios. The first video is ‘New Friend’, and it’s ready and waiting for you to watch here:

I hope you enjoy it, and if so please feel free to share it. I’ll be in touch with the next instalment soon.

The set-up at Momentum Studios, Plymouth 6/11/17
Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/49113762017-10-30T11:00:53+00:002017-10-30T11:00:53+00:00November gig news
Hi folks,

I hope this reaches you well. Somehow November is almost upon us and there are a few gigs in particular I should let you know about…

First up on Friday 3rd November I’ll be playing a concert at Chettle Village Hall near Blandford Forum in Dorset (DT11 8DB). This is a gorgeous venue I’ve had the pleasure of playing a couple times alongside Alan West & Steve Black (I’ll be joining them here again on December 1st too!) but this will be my first solo show here…really looking forward to it. Tickets are £10 and can be booked in advance by contacting Jan on 07776 323198…plenty of wine, local beer and food available on the night too!

On November 11th I’m really excited to be heading to Tenby Blues Festival for the first time. I’ll be playing twice - first up as part of the evening show at Church House on the bill with Bella Collins and Max & Veronica, and then I’m playing again for the late night session back at the Fourcroft Hotel. Head to www.tenbyblues.co.uk for tickets and to find out more about the festival…it looks fab!

Another highlight for November will be a full-band show on Sunday 19th at the Cellars Bar in Teignmouth as part of the Teignmouth Jazz & Blues Fringe Festival. Joining me for this one will be my good friends Simon Garrett on bass and Chris Page (ex Andy Fraser, Chris Spedding) on drums. We’ll be playing from 4-6pm so be sure to come and check it out if you’re heading to the festival that weekend.

The full list of everything I’m up to over the next couple of months can be found at www.adamsweetmusic.com/shows. The twice-monthly Thursday night residency at The Bellows at The Wheelwright Inn in Colyford with Alan West & Steve Black takes a night off for the first week in November whilst the pub is closed for a change in management. We wish Kirstin & Mark well for the future and thank them wholeheartedly for all they have done in building this venue over the last 3 years…we’ve had some really special nights here. The 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month shows will resume from the 16th November.

In the meantime the bookings for 2018 are rolling in and I’ll start posting these on the website soon…if there’s anywhere you’d like to see me play next year then let me know!

All the best and hope to catch up soon,

Hope you’re all well. Just a quick note from me to let you know about a couple of full-band shows coming up…

On Thursday 10th August we’ll be playing at The Bronx in Teignmouth, hosted by the Teignmouth Jazz & Blues Club. I’ve had the pleasure of playing a Club Night at this very cool venue once already this year as a member of the band Hucklebuck, so I’m delighted to be returning for a night fronting my own band. Doors are at 7:30 for an 8pm start, £10 on the door, less for club members and students etc.…full details at teignmouthjazz.org

We’ll also be playing at Sidmouth FolkWeek with a return to the Anchor Garden Stage on Sunday 6th August – we’ll be closing the evening, taking to the stage around 9:30pm, and praying it won’t rain (anyone who’s come to see me play here the last 2 years will understand…).

For these band gigs I’ll be joined once again by my very good friends Simon Garrett (bass) and Dave Sandercock (drums). We’ll be featuring material from the first album as well as some tracks from the recent acoustic EP re-worked into full-band mode!

Those of you heading to Sidmouth FolkWeek can also catch me playing solo at The Volunteer Inn on the Monday afternoon (7th) from 3pm – always a great afternoon here!

Don’t forget to check out adamsweetmusic.com/shows for the full rundown as there are more solo gigs throughout August, as well as the twice monthly residency at The Bellows in Colyford with Alan West & Steve Black, which continues tomorrow (Thursday) night.

Hope to see you soon…

All the best,

It felt about time for another instalment of gig news, so here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening during July, which is set to be one of the most diverse yet with all of the various acts I’m involved in getting some action!

As a result I’m only playing one solo acoustic show this month, but as solo gigs go it’s a pretty special one – Upton Blues Festival! I’m delighted to be back on the Acoustic Stage again this year with a slot on the Sunday afternoon of the festival (23rd July) at 4:30pm.

I’ve some ‘Adam Sweet Band’ shows lined up this summer, starting at Bar Brunel in Bridgwater this Sunday 9th, 6:30pm. Joining me will be my good friends and long time playing partners in The Perfect Strangers rock band Simon Garrett (bass) and Dave Sandercock (drums). We’ll be playing material from the ‘Small Town Thinking’ album as well as some tracks from my latest ‘Take Your Time’ EP getting their first airing in full-band mode…can’t wait! News on more of these full-band shows soon.

I’ll also be back out with ‘Hucklebuck’ on Thursday 13th July at the Otterton Mill near Budleigh Salterton. The band features Ian Jennings on double bass, Richard Glazebrook on drums and fronted by Ian Briggs on harmonica and vocals. I've played a handful of shows with these guys now and really enjoying getting stuck into some real swingin' blues, R&B and rockabilly! Call 01395 568521 for details and tickets.

I continue to play regularly with Alan West & Steve Black (we had a fab gig at the Sevenoaks Festival last Friday with our buddy Justin Johnson) and our residency at The Bellows at The Wheelwright in Colyford is still going strong - we're here on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month, 8:30pm.

Finally, I must tell you about the ‘Hand in Hand’ benefit concert at the Axminster Guildhall on Tuesday 18th July, hosted by Alan and Steve, raising money for victims of terror attacks in the UK. I’ll be joining them as part of a great line-up of local acts, and also closing the night with The Perfect Strangers. Doors are at 7pm with a suggested minimum donation of a fiver.

And talking of The Perfect Strangers our other gigs this month include the York, Exmouth (7th); New Inn Cowley Bridge, Exeter (8th); Eyre Court, Seaton (16th); Yarty Party Festival, Axminster (22nd); Nags Head, Lyme Regis (27th) and Sorry Head, Exeter (29th)…so if you need a classic rock fix you know where to find us!

Ok...I think that's the lot! Sorry that turned into quite a lengthy one, but I think that's everything for now. Look forward to seeing you out there somewhere in the coming weeks...I’ll be in touch with another (hopefully more succinct!) update again soon.

Cheers,
Adam

This year has seen me spend a lot more time in the studio, with a lot of this time being spent recording and playing on projects other than my own. It’s a constant learning curve and with the experience I’ve gained from this I’ve been taking the time between all the gigs and other sessions to sit in front of the mics and record myself. The result is this new 5 track EP on which I have performed everything…guitars, vocals, percussion...the lot. The majority of the songs are co-written with my long-standing writing partner and good friend Steve Black, but the EP also features a track written with my buddy Boon Gould, as well as a little tribute to a favourite singer-songwriter of mine.

To give you a flavour you can listen to the single “New Friend” taken from the EP right now over at soundcloud.com/adam-sweet/new-friend

Details of the EP release and how to pre-order your copy will be coming real soon, so keep an eye on your inboxes.

Best wishes,
Adam

Oh and while I’ve got your attention I must mention a special gig that’s happening this Thursday 1stDecember at The Bellows venue at The Wheelwright Inn in Colyford, Devon. Canadian singer-songwriters Sarah MacDougall & Ben Kunder are playing here as part of their UK tour and I’ll be opening the show for them. As promised here’s some more gig news from me covering a few more of this summer’s highlights…

Firstly, this week at The Bellows in Colyford I won’t be playing solo on Thursday night, but instead will be there on Friday night to open the show for blues-rock band The Blue Bishops. I first met these guys when my first band supported them at a local festival (I think I was 15 then!) so I’m looking forward to catching up with them and joining them for a couple numbers this time too. There are still some tickets available which you can get via www.wheelwrightinn.com/what-s-on
While I’m on the subject of The Bellows, from July onwards I’ll now be teaming up with my good friends and other resident artists Alan West & Steve Black, to play a three-man show every first and third Thursday of the month. The first of these will be Thursday 7th July, so I hope you can join us if you’re in or around East Devon.

There’ll be a few more festival appearances coming up, one of the highlights for me being a headline set on the acoustic stage at Upton Blues Festival on Saturday 16th July. My previous appearances here have been a total pleasure, so I can’t wait to get back on the Memorial Hall stage. The night before I’ll be sneaking in a gig at Scratchers at The Three Lions in Farncombe, where I had a blast at my last visit here back in January. I’ll be closer to home on Saturday 9th July at Jurassic Fields Festival in Bridport, in Gloucester for their annual Blues Festival on 27th July, and can be found in Sidmouth on 1st and 2nd August for Folk Week.

So that’s a taster of what’s coming up in the next few weeks. Full listings as always at
www.adamsweetmusic.com/shows.

All the best,

Adam

Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/41841762016-05-17T12:12:55+01:002017-01-16T00:17:12+00:00Start of the summer gigs and festivals
Hello friends,

Time for another long overdue update from me…you know I don’t like to bother you more than I have to, but as summer arrives it seems the gigs start hotting up too, so here’s what’s coming up in the next few weeks that you ought to know about…

On Friday 27th May I’ll be welcoming the start of summer with folk singer-songwriter Saskia Griffiths-Moore as we play a special double-header acoustic concert at the Dorchester Arts Centre. We’ve shared the bill at a couple of shows already this year and it’s worked a treat, and I’m sure this night will be no exception…head over to dorchesterarts.org.uk for more details and to get your tickets.

Saturday 28th May I’ll be teaming up with my buddies Alan West & Steve Black for a lunchtime concert at the Axminster Arts Café. The music starts at midday and if the sun’s out we’ll be on the outdoor stage.

The rest of the May Bank Holiday will see me at the Lyme Regis Jazz & Blues Festival…on Sunday afternoon I’ll be on the Marine Parade stage at 3pm, and on the evening of Monday 30th I’ll be playing at The Town Mill from 5-7pm. Go to www.lymeregisjazzfestival.co.uk for the full lineup of the weekend-long festival, which includes some other good friends of mine…check it out.

On Friday 3rd June I’m really looking forward to returning to the Subscription Rooms in Stroud, especially as I get to share the bill with my very good friends from Detroit Billy Brandt and Sarana VerLin for a special ‘Transatlantic Session’ as part of the Stroud Americana Festival. Full info and tickets for this weekend long festival of blues, roots and country from both sides of the pond can be found at www.stroudamericanafestival.co.uk

So that’s plenty to be getting on with for now I’d say, not to mention the regular gigs around Devon and Dorset which keep rolling on. As always a full gig list can be found at adamsweetmusic.com/shows.

And finally, if you’re after some live music in East Devon tomorrow (Wednesday) night, I can strongly recommend heading to The Bellows at The Wheelwright in Colyford where you have the rare opportunity to catch award winning Canadian singer songwriter Sarah MacDougall as she visits this part of the world on her UK tour. Alan West and myself will be playing a short opening set, so if you fancy it I’ll see you there! You’ll find full details and tickets at www.wheelwrightinn.com/what-s-on

I’ll be in touch with more gig and festival news in a few weeks. Until then take care and I hope to see you somewhere out there soon.

Best wishes,

It’s a real shame, we were all thoroughly looking forward to it and I know plenty of you were too…but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. Well we had such a good time that night that we’ve decided to do it again…twice…so we’ll be playing two nights at The Bellows next Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st. We’ll also be joined by our friends Alan West & Steve Black for the second half of the show, where they’ll play a set of their material backed up by Justin, Roberto and myself. It’s gonna be a real fun couple of nights, at a new venue that’s going from strength to strength. We’d all love your support, so hopefully some of you can come and join us.

Also this Saturday night (17th) I’ll be playing a small part in the Oxjam Music Festival in Exeter…I’ll be playing a solo set at ‘Old Timers’ on Little Castle St at 9:30pm. You can find all the details and lineups for all the venues involved at http://oxjamexetertakeover.org/index.html

And don’t forget my local residencies, which are still going strong into the winter…last Thursday of every month at ‘The Bellows’ at The Wheelwright in Colyford, and after a few weeks off my fortnightly Sunday afternoon gig at The Dolphin in Beer continues again from 25th October onwards. Plenty of other gigs happening too…as always you’ll find the full list at www.adamsweetmusic.com/shows

That’s all for now, hope to see you soon.

Adam

Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/38756482015-09-30T11:29:33+01:002015-09-30T11:29:33+01:00Live Review - Jagz, Ascot 8/9/15I just came across this review at W21Music.com from the recent show at Jagz in Ascot that was hosted by my friends Alan West & Steve Black earlier this month. Here's an excerpt from the review of my solo set in the middle "half" of the show...

"It was time for long time West/Black associate Adam Sweet to take to the stage with a set that fitted neatly under the umbrella of Americana. Starting with the blues shuffle of "At Times Like This" from his "Small Town Thinking" cd which was the basis of a lot of the set. The folkish "Doin' Alright" followed. Adam was ever the genial host giving a bit of background to the songs, though the up tempo "The Next Man After Me" had a pretty clear narrative that needed little explaining. It was back to the blues for "Name Your Price" about selling your soul. There was time for an unreleased co write called "Take Your Time" which had a touch of John Martyn about it on first listen and was very impressive. The final song of his set was the tale of an evening in Greece which left Adam wiser if considerably poorer, "Santarosa Street". It was an entertaining set, well played well sung, and certainly enough to justify seeing Adam in an extended format."

Thanks to Fran & Chris for the kind words...you can read the full review of a rather eclectic evening here.

Adam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/37854952015-07-21T14:33:50+01:002018-10-22T12:58:00+01:00Summer 2015 gig newsTime for some more gig news from me, and I’m very pleased to say there’s plenty of it! There’s the usual array of regular solo gigs around Devon, Dorset and Somerset, plus some festival slots including the Village Pump Folk Festival and Gloucester’s Rhythm & Blues Festival this weekend, Sidmouth Folk Festival at the start of August and the Great Dorset Steam Festival in the first week of September to round things off.

Also deserving of a special mention is a couple of full band shows I’ll be playing in the first week of August, where I’ll be joined by Justin Johnson on drums and Roberto Ruiz on bass. I’ve been itching to get out and play some more shows with a full band for a long time now, and it’s a privilege to have these guys on board. On Wednesday 3rd August we’ll be playing at Sidmouth Folk Week on the Anchor Garden Stage from 9:30pm, and our first performance together will be the night before on Tuesday 2nd at ‘The Bellows’ at The Wheelwright Inn in Colyford, where Alan West & Steve Black will also be joining in the fun to play a set. Both these shows are free entry, but booking is advised for the show at The Bellows.

So here’s the full gig list for the rest of the summer. I realise it’s been a while since my last update, so I thought it was about time I rectified that…

There’s been plenty going on here to keep me busy, with all my regular gigs in around the South West keeping me out of trouble, as well as an ever growing number of shows further afield, including most recently a slot last Friday as a featured artist at the AMA UK’s 2nd annual conference, held at the Maverick Festival in Suffolk. I couldn’t stick around for too many beers afterwards as there were more gigs to be done back here in Devon, but it was good to catch up with some friends and make a few new ones along the way.

There are a few more shows happening during July that are worth shouting about too…

On Wednesday 16th I’m in Bristol, this time to play a new venue for me, The Gallimaufry, on Gloucester Road. This will also be my first time sharing the bill with one of Bristol’s finest, Matt Woosey…not one to be missed for acoustic blues fans.

Saturday 19th I’m very excited to be returning to play at Upton Blues Festival. I made my first appearance here on the Acoustic Stage last year, and it was a real highlight for me…such a wonderful crowd! I’m delighted to have been asked back again, so be sure to come and find me back on the Acoustic Stage (Memorial Hall) at 9pm on the Saturday.

At the end of the month is another new venue for me as a solo act…the Grey Horse in Kingston. A couple of months ago when I was in London I ended up sitting in on guitar with Alan West, Steve Black and Dean Barnes at one of their gigs here, but now they’re having me back on my own. I’ll be here on Thursday 31st playing from 8-10pm.

As well as these I’ve still got my regular gigs here in Devon and Dorset, which this month includes The Dolphin in Blandford Forum (Wed 9th), The Angel in Exeter (Thur 17th), and my once a month Sunday afternoon residency at The Dolphin in Beer (Sun 20th).

For all the details head over to www.adamsweetmusic.com/shows, where you’ll find the full gig list as always.

Finally, just a reminder that if you haven’t got yourself a copy of my ‘Small Town Thinking’ album, you can order it, or download it, via the website at www.adamsweetmusic.com/music. The reviews have still been steadily rolling in over the last few months, and I must say every one of them has been a real treat to read. If you’d like to see what’s been said about it we’ve put a whole bunch of the reviews on the ‘press’ section of the website…but more importantly I hope that you guys have been enjoying it!

Thanks to all of you for your continued support, and I hope to see some of you out and about this month.

Cheers,

AdamAdam Sweettag:adamsweetmusic.com,2005:Post/26324002014-02-24T00:27:51+00:002014-02-24T00:27:51+00:002014 so far...Hey folks. I hope you are all well and that 2014 has been good to you so far. I figured it was about time for a quick update from me. It’s been a promising start to the year, and firstly I’d like to thank all of you who have bought a copy of my debut album ‘Small Town Thinking’ already…I hope you’re enjoying it! The reviews have been coming in, and they have made for very enjoyable reading indeed. I’m also delighted to be featured in the current issue of ‘The Blues Magazine’ as “one to watch for 2014”, and the album tracks have been getting plenty of plays on both local, national and international radio too.

Last month I had the great pleasure of accompanying my good friend, singer and the producer of my album, Alan West, as he recorded a live session with Bob Harris at Radio 2. It was a real honour to be a part of this, and along with our mate Dean Barnes on guitar we accompanied Alan on three live tracks…and had a blast getting to hang out at the BBC for a few hours! The session will be aired on Bob’s weekend Radio 2 show on March 23rd between midnight and 3am, so if you fancy a listen be sure to tune in or get it on the iPlayer at a more sociable hour I guess!

I’ve also got a few things coming up to let you know about, both local to us Devon folk and further afield…

This Tuesday (25th Feb) highly acclaimed Nashville singer/songwriter Hugh Moffatt is visiting this part of the world to play a show at The Dolphin in Beer (EX12 3EQ). Alan West, Steve Black and myself will be opening what’s sure to be a special night in this wonderfully intimate setting. There are still a few tickets available at £10, which can be reserved by calling 07773 768110.

On Thursday (27th Feb) I will be in nearby Seaton for a special ‘Steak and Blues’ night at The Shed Steakhouse (EX12 2LW). Joining me to help deliver the blues portion of the evening will be my inimitable buddy Dean Barnes on guitar. There are still a few tables left, so for more info and to reserve yours head to www.theshedsteakhouse.co.uk…I’ve already sampled the steak of course…it’s a bit good!

Next weekend sees me leaving the West Country for a few days and heading back to London for a couple of solo shows and some more radio. On Sunday 2nd March I’ll be playing a set at The Old Queens Head in Islington (N1 8LN), where I’ll be taking to the stage at 5pm. Then on Tuesday 4th March I’ll be at The Bedford in Balham (SW12 9HD) - doors open at 7:30 for this one. It’s been a long time coming and I can’t tell you how good it feels to be sat here writing this…I just hope when you hear it that you think it was worth the wait!

The album is available to pre-order now at my website www.adamsweetmusic.com, so it’ll turn up just in time for your Christmas stocking fillers! It’s also worth checking out the website if you haven’t paid a visit recently, as it’s been completely rebuilt and is looking better than ever.

To celebrate the release of the album we’re putting on a very special album launch show on Friday 20th December at The Gateway in Seaton, Devon. This is a great venue that has really supported me in recent years, in a town I have been regularly performing in ever since I was 15 years old, so it’s a real privilege to be able to do this at The Gateway. I’ll be performing both solo and with the help of some very special guests and friends of mine, including the ace Dean Barnes and the boys from my band ‘The Perfect Strangers’. The album will be available for the first time at the show, as well as an exclusive download of a recent live recording that you will receive free with each copy. It’s sure to be a great night and one hell of a Christmas party, and I would love for you all to be there. We need to know numbers, so please contact Kirstin Reynolds on 07779 786225 or email info@neo-music.net to reserve a ticket, which will cost a fiver.

In the meantime I’ve got a handful of shows left this year in and around Devon before I start making plans to take these new songs on the road next year. Hopefully see you at the launch show on the 20th.

All the best,

Adam x

Adam Sweet
