Hi folks,
It felt about time for another instalment of gig news, so here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening during July, which is set to be one of the most diverse yet with all of the various acts I’m involved in getting some action!
As a result I’m only playing one solo acoustic show this month, but as solo gigs go it’s a pretty special one – Upton Blues Festival! I’m delighted to be back on the Acoustic Stage again this year with a slot on the Sunday afternoon of the festival (23rd July) at 4:30pm.
I’ve some ‘Adam Sweet Band’ shows lined up this summer, starting at Bar Brunel in Bridgwater this Sunday 9th, 6:30pm. Joining me will be my good friends and long time playing partners in The Perfect Strangers rock band Simon Garrett (bass) and Dave Sandercock (drums). We’ll be playing material from the ‘Small Town Thinking’ album as well as some tracks from my latest ‘Take Your Time’ EP getting their first airing in full-band mode…can’t wait! News on more of these full-band shows soon.
I’ll also be back out with ‘Hucklebuck’ on Thursday 13th July at the Otterton Mill near Budleigh Salterton. The band features Ian Jennings on double bass, Richard Glazebrook on drums and fronted by Ian Briggs on harmonica and vocals. I've played a handful of shows with these guys now and really enjoying getting stuck into some real swingin' blues, R&B and rockabilly! Call 01395 568521 for details and tickets.
I continue to play regularly with Alan West & Steve Black (we had a fab gig at the Sevenoaks Festival last Friday with our buddy Justin Johnson) and our residency at The Bellows at The Wheelwright in Colyford is still going strong - we're here on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month, 8:30pm.
Finally, I must tell you about the ‘Hand in Hand’ benefit concert at the Axminster Guildhall on Tuesday 18th July, hosted by Alan and Steve, raising money for victims of terror attacks in the UK. I’ll be joining them as part of a great line-up of local acts, and also closing the night with The Perfect Strangers. Doors are at 7pm with a suggested minimum donation of a fiver.
And talking of The Perfect Strangers our other gigs this month include the York, Exmouth (7th); New Inn Cowley Bridge, Exeter (8th); Eyre Court, Seaton (16th); Yarty Party Festival, Axminster (22nd); Nags Head, Lyme Regis (27th) and Sorry Head, Exeter (29th)…so if you need a classic rock fix you know where to find us!
Ok...I think that's the lot! Sorry that turned into quite a lengthy one, but I think that's everything for now. Look forward to seeing you out there somewhere in the coming weeks...I’ll be in touch with another (hopefully more succinct!) update again soon.
Cheers,
Adam
